What started out as a question, ended up a statement.
When stretching a muscle, there’s always that point of resistance you meet, as your growth intent meets your zone of comfort. Attempting to go beyond that zone of comfort brings feelings of anxiety, and deeper questions surrounding one’s ability. It happens to everybody. Even the members of marron. But, getting power washed by the pressure of a new environment tends to reveal the gold underneath. Like prospectors digging into the unyielding dirt of Northern California riverbanks, you’ll never know, till you know. Consume this latest entry into the marron archives as a loud declaration of “We Know”.
Collectively we haven’t been churning out the amount of projects that people who follow us, have become used to. That’s bound to happen when 2 of your 5 members move to New York to pursue opportunities necessary for their individual growth. But we never stopped. This short project is a testament to that.
Angelo was the first person that Patrick worked with when he first got to the Beast Coast, and he ended up being the last as Pat Rock is heading back to SoCal. In fact, before this time, Angelo had sent out the bat signal to get some work in, but it just so happened that Pat was boarding a plane to set up his new living situation. Funny how things work out inthe end. They’ve connected on fashion-related content in the past, and that chemistry is what lent to this coming out as well as it did. Communication is minimal, like a quarterback and receiver who’ve spent many seasons together, but a glance or a look leads to bounty. We didn’t even have to plan a wardrobe, because we knew Angelo always comes at the ready. Sometimes the simplest stuff is the most pivotal. Give Patrick and Niko a camera and a studio space, then let them take it from there.

Housed at San Francisco’s oldest recording studio, Different Fur, the video series Off the Record provides a marriage of musical talent by bringing artists from the Bay Area & beyond in who bless our ears with a performance. Backed by live instrumentation from a full band, artists perform renditions of their tunes in-studio and later dive into their work with an interview segment, where listeners can get a deeper understanding of the inspiration for said track.
